This is the first CD of all original Slim Man Songs since...1999?
Wow! What the hell has Mr. Man been up to?
Well, there was the Holiday CD, the Standards CD, the
best-of (Bella Mia), two Bona Fide CDs...and now...'Solstice'.
It's already been called..."a heartbreaking work of staggering genius."
Who said that? Slim Man himself!
The CD features the soul-stirring acoustic guitar of Marc Antoine on three songs, and the Slim Man band--John E, George, Kevin, and Hit Man Howie Z--isalso featured. 'Solstice' is reminiscent of the Slim Debut CD 'End of the Rainbow' -- more pop than jazz.
This CD has a killer version of Tim Hardin's 'If I Were a Carpenter' as well as a moving rendition of Nik Kershaw's 'Wouldn't It Be Good'.
This CD also contains a song (Summer Days) that Mr. Man wrote for Angela Bofill's first album 'Angie'. This re-make has been titled 'Summer's Almost Gone', and we don't want to say it's better than the original, which was produced by Dave Grusin, but it's darned good!
And it's here just in time for the Holidays! Joy to the World!
