This is pretty much the same recipe as the steamed broccoli, but I use Balsamic Vinegar instead of lemon. Here goes... String beans, lots of 'em. Some people trim off the tips, some don't. You know what I say? Do whatever the hell you want. Or try it both ways. Just do it! Olive Oil, Extra Virgin of course. If you can't find Extra Virgin, and least try to find one that hasn't been married 7 times... 4 or 5 Garlic cloves, crushed. If you love garlic, you can also slice some cloves paper-thin, and I'll tell ya what to do with 'em later. Balsamic Vinegar Salt and Pepper Boil some water in a pan. When the water is boiling, add the crushed garlic cloves, and some salt. Put in your steamer basket, and make sure the water doesn't touch the bottom of the basket. We're steaming, not boiling the darned beans. Cover and steam. When the beans are crunchy, remove them from the pan, and put them in a serving dish. Drizzle with olive oil, and then some Balsamic Vinegar, and then add some salt and pepper. If you reeeeeally love garlic, add some sliced garlic to the bottom of the serving dish before you put in the cooked beans. Beans, beans, the magical fruits!! The more you eat, the more you toots.
